coastalresilience.orgThe Nature Conservancy is an international powerhouse brand in the world of environmental conservation. One of their significant marine programs is Coastal Resilience, a multi-stakeholder conservation project that protects coastal communities – the people, the local economy and the environment-in the face of increasing climate events.  Coastal Resilience offers a powerful approach and a tool that identifies and shows risk and reveals and protects natural defenses.  Coastalresilience.org serves as a project communications hub for the project and a doorway to the mapping tool site where the mapping is done.

Our task was to redesign this site that had lost its user focus as the needs of the project and the site’s content increased. During the redesign, we brought back a strong focus on the user and the need of the multi-stakeholders, reorganized the site content to reflect that user focus and recommended new content that would support the engagement goals. We also developed a fresh visual design that connected the site back to The Nature Conservancy brand identity while still retaining a distinct look supportive of Coastal Resilience brand goals. Lastly but so importantly, we built this custom site on WordPress to allow for ease of content management. The site was launched in conjunction with the U.N. Climate Summit, September 2014, and showed an immediate increase in visitation.
